Mission Statement
“To promote the game of soccer in Kerry in a sporting manner, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and inclusiveness”
Club Background
Mastergeeha F.C. was founded in 1979 under the title “Mastergeeha Rangers F.C.” (the name was subsequently changed to Mastergeeha F.C. in 1999). Mastergeeha F.C. currently fields one senior team and eleven underage teams in competitions organized by the Kerry District League and the Kerry Schoolboys and Girls League. It is 40 years since the club first entered one senior team in the KDL in September 1979.
The senior team was promoted from Division 4 in 1984 and from Division 3 in 1988 and from Division 2 in 1991 to reach the premier division 12 years after its formation. Unfortunately, during the 90’s, success for the senior team proved elusive. However, in 1991 the club entered it’s first schoolboy team in the under twelve leagues. Thus began a major transformation of the club’s activities and since then there have been successes on the field of play at all levels.
In September 1993 the club introduced a Lotto draw to raise funds to purchase a permanent base. In July 1997 seven acres were purchased in Knockinane West on the border of the Kilcummin and Killarney parishes. Four years later in 2001 dressing rooms were built and this building was significantly extended in 2009 to provide additional dressing rooms and other facilities to cater for the growing number of club members. Since the acquisition of a permanent HQ, the club’s ground maintenance programme has ensured excellent playing facilities for its players. Kilbrean Park is now acknowledged as one of the premier soccer grounds in Kerry.
